ID Licensing
The ID Licensing page, reached from the sidebar, lets you view the identity-based (“ID”) licensing entities defined in your RLM Cloud account. Identity-based licensing entitles individual end users to licenses based on who they are, rather than by host. The ID Licensing page is available to all signed-in users.
Identity-based licensing relies on the identity provider configured for your account (for example JWT or Azure). For details on configuring identity and access, see cloud-up-administration.
ID Users and ID Groups
The page presents two tabs:
ID Users – the end users entitled to identity-based licensing.
ID Groups – named groups that bundle ID users and are associated with servers.
ID Users
The ID Users tab lists the end users who have identity-based licensing access, with these columns:
Name
Email
Groups – the ID groups the user belongs to.
Servers – the servers associated with the user.
Date Created
Each row also shows an enabled/disabled status indicator. Users that are disabled appear greyed out in the list.
ID Groups
The ID Groups tab lists the groups that bundle ID users together and associate them with servers, with these columns:
Name
Users – the number of ID users in the group.
Servers – the number of servers associated with the group.
Date Created
Each row also shows a status indicator, and disabled groups appear greyed out.
Assigning Users and Groups to Servers
Assigning Users
From the ID Licensing page, locate the user you wish to assign to a server. Click the sliders icon on the right-most side of the user row; the Manage servers & groups — [user] modal will open. From the License servers tab, select the server(s) the user should have access to. From this modal you may also assign the user to a group if you plan to manage assignment through groups. Click Save to complete the assignment, or Cancel to abort the operation. The user will now have access to any licenses available on those servers.
Note
Both server and group assignment may also be accomplished when creating or editing a user.
Assigning Groups
From the ID Groups tab, locate the group you want to assign and click the Edit button (pencil icon); the Edit Group page will open for that group. Click the Assign to servers (optional) multi-select menu and select one or more license servers from the menu, then click outside the menu to collapse. Click Update ID Group to complete the operation, or Cancel to abort.
Note
This may also be accomplished when creating a new group.
Managing Access
To enable or disable ID Licensing access for one or more users, click the Manage Access button on the ID Users tab. From here you may search for the user(s) you wish to enable or disable ID Licensing access. This may also be done by removing any server or group assignment, but this is useful if you plan to re-enable access in the future without re-assigning them.
To enable or disable access for a group, go to the ID Groups tab and click the toggle switch to enable or disable access for that group.
Warning
If a user is both directly assigned to a license server, as well as part of a group assignment to that same server, disabling the group alone will not remove access.
Finding ID Entries
Each tab has its own Search box. On the ID Users tab, search matches the user name and email; on the ID Groups tab, search matches the group name. Long lists are paginated, and you can choose to show 5, 10, or 25 rows per page.
